The looper (with the Hazarai in Tape reverse function) extends to 30 seconds so that would be an option. But this only extends up to 6 seconds in the Tap Tempo mode so it’s limited to playing only short riffs in advance. I don't know what a MIDI CC is but this is what he means on the second option the looper: This can be done with the MM Hazarai. So all you gotta do then is hit the play button when it’s time for your reverse riff or solo.' I don’t think it’s ever going to sound as good as real reverse, but if you want it in real-time it’s the way to go.Īnother thing you could do would be to use a looper with a reverse function, one shot mode, and ideally some memory so you could have it already in there before the gig. You gotta coordinate your foot movement to your playing. Someone gave me this tip on another forum: 'I don’t have an attack decay, but I’ve used MIDI CCs on my HOG 2 to adjust the attack time, and yeah, it works to an extent- but there’s a skill curve. ![]() The manual states that an EHX Expression foot Pedal can be hooked up to the Attack Decay an give you direct control over each control-knob on the Attack Decay.ġ- does anyone have some experience with an Expression pedal on the AttackDecay (decay/attack-knob)? Try playing the “Castles made of Sand”-solo correctly with this pedal. This is a problem for the Attack-knob on the AttackDecay pedal too. This can be altered of course with the Decay-knob turning is all the way to zero (counterclockwise) to get a sudden cutoff at the end of the note.Īs stated before: When playing a solo it consists of long and shorter notes. With the Attack Decay the signal fades away slowly at the end. Tried some Poly settings, I tried adjusting the envelope curves of the attack and decay effect as stated in the manual but now it all sounds too much like a bathroom to me.īut a real Tape reverse effect swells slowly and then is suddenly cut off at its apex. Now the Attack Decay pedal does not suffer from these repeats since it is not coupled to a(digital/anaologue)delay. The same holds true for the 'Tap Tempo 1sec. ![]() It is not just the effect, not only the one note that is affected. when playing a melody from low to high notes you get a reverse melody from high to low. One other thing of the MemoryMan Hazarai is that it reverses the melody too in the Tape Reverse mode. Another downside is that it takes a while for the signal to get started in this setting after picking the note due to turning the delay knob more clockwise trying to get rid of the delays. The Memory Man has a nice cutoff at the end of the tone, just like the real thing when the pedal control knobs are at their most extreme position (decay and repeats to zero, delay at 12 or 1 'o' clock, blend al the way to 5 o clock) But the downside of this pedal is that even at its most extreme setting the signal cannot be totally dislocated from the delay function i.e repeats. You only able to play notes of roughly an equal timesignature.Ģ - With many pedals out there you cannot decouple the reverse function from the delay function (MemorymanHazarai, Line6 Pod, Danelectro BackTalk etc.) Thus geting the Swell and Decay function correctly is problematic. The greatest problems creating a realistic Tape Reverse effect seem to be:ġ - Playing a solo it consists of longer and shorter notes. ![]() I bought a Memory man with Hazarai last year and an AttackDecay pedal a while later.Great pedals with loads of potential and possibilities, but:Ī realistic Tape Reverse effect still seems quite elusive to emulate.
